Recipe for Home-Made Hummingbird food.
This recipe works great for any of our Hummingbird Feeders. (see feeders below) 1. Combine a mixture one part refined white sugar to four parts of boiling water. 1 to 4 ratio. (example 1 cup white sugar to 4 cups of boiling water) 2. Mix until all the sugar is completely dissolved. 3. Then cover the solution and allow it to cool. 4. Be sure to wash your feeder with soap and hot water to sterilize the feeder. Rinse thoroughly to get all the soap out. 5. Fill your feeder according to the manufacturer's directions and hang it in an open area. 6. Hang your freshly filled feeder in a full-sun location to attract the hummingbirds to your feeder. 7. Enjoy your new hummingbird friends. Important tips: There is really no need to add red food coloring. Also, DO NOT use brown sugar or honey as a substitute for white sugar. They have impurities that can cause bacterial growth and cause fatal diseases in hummingbirds. The more feeders you put out, the more hummingbirds you will have to enjoy.
